Searching EBT for user, city or country profiles is easy - simply type the name into the search box and click on the arrow symbol ().
The search is case insensitive and also returns similar matches. A search for ber would therefore (among others) return the city profiles of Berlin as well as Bern.
The search term has to contain at least 3 characters. Leading whitespace is ignored. Also, please note that you always search for localized profiles (e.g. translated country names).
Results are ordered by category (users, cities and countries), relevance (exact matches appear first) and number of notes entered. We don't display profiles with zero notes entered or which have been inactive for more than a year.
Use the tab links to only list results of one category. Additionally you have the option to search only in one category by adding a language specific prefix to your search term. The prefixes are user:, city: and country: for user, city and country profiles, so a search for user: ber would only return user profiles beginning with ber.
Some sections of the site also allow a local search, which is indicated by a special button (). Clicking the button finds the search term inside the displayed list of profiles. Only the first matching result is displayed. The "3 letter limit" doesn't apply for this search mode. Searching for an empty term finds yourself / your home town / home country in the listing.
